Lagoon & Sportivate Partnership – Girls Sailing Club!

This season Lagoon Watersports have teamed up with Sportivate to offer girls the opportunity to learn to sail in Brighton.  The aim of this exciting partnership is to get more girls out on the water – introducing them to a new sport – whilst having fun and gaining RYA qualifications along the way. Sportivate is part of the Olympic legacy scheme.  After Team GBs amazing success in the 2012 Olympics – especially in sailing!, Sportivate’s aim is to promote sports by providing funding to help cover the costs associated with taking up a new sport. The Lagoon Watersports team at Brighton Marina are able to offer 20 girls the chance to join our brand new Girls Sailing Club.  We are looking for girls aged between 16-25 to come and learn to sail, taking part in an 8 session course.  The course is being run on Wednesday evenings, and we will take place on a fleet of keelboats, all with instructors onboard and sail out of Brighton marina. As an added bonus we are offering a huge discount on our membership scheme.  This means that those who complete the course can continue sailing at Brighton Marina using our equipment, in addition to working towards further RYA qualifications.  We also have numerous social events and special offers. The Sportivate and Lagoon Watersport partnership is headed up by our Senior Dinghy and Keel Boat Instructor, Anna Strang.  Anna has many years experience and had this is say about the exciting new scheme – “Sailing is an amazing sport in which no two days are the same.  As an instructor and race competitor I have met many awesome female sailors, it is by no means a boys game!  I am 23 and a RYA senior instructor at Lagoon Watersports, sailing has allowed me to travel the world, live and work onboard boats and get paid for my hobby.  Life on the water is always fun and you are constantly learning.
